SIMPLE MEANDERS
The meanders developed by a river in its course during 1st cycle of erosion are called Simple Meanders which are formed by lateral erosion by a river.
Simple meanders or Monocyclic Meanders are of 2 types:
1.wavy meander and 2. horse- shoe shaped or Bracelet Meanders.

INCISED MEANDERS
Incised meanders are representative features of rejuvenation and are developed through vertical erosion or valley deepening/ incision of vaey floors of previous normal/ simple meanders.
Incised meanders are of 2 types :
1.Entrenched meanders
2. Ingrown meanders

ENTRENCHED MEANDERS
Entrenched meanders represent those incised meanders in which the valley floors have been deeply entrenched by vertical erosion caused by rejuvenation and valley sides have symmetrical steep valley sides slope/ cliff slope.

INGROWN MEANDERS
Ingrown meanders are those incised meanders which have asymmetrical valley side slopes i.e. one side of valley is deeply undercut forming hanging cliffs while other valley side is of moderate slope.
